What this site is
CNG Finder lists every compressed natural gas and LNG station in the United States that the U.S. Department of Energy's Alternative Fuels Data Center (AFDC) records as public and open. Around that list we build the things the raw database does not give you: a page per state with the fill type, pressure, hours, truck access and card list for each station; interstate corridor lists in driving order with the longest gap between fills; a weekly log of what opened and closed; and plain-language guides to the fuel and the vehicles that use it.
The map on the homepage and the route planner are the AFDC's own station-locator widget, embedded with the CNG filter preset. Everything else is generated by our own scripts from the same database, refreshed every week.
Who makes it
CNG Finder is published by a small independent web publisher that also runs station finders for other alternative fuels. Content is written and reviewed under the byline "CNG Finder Editorial." We are not a fuel retailer, a utility, an engine maker or a government agency, and we do not sell fuel, vehicles or conversions.
How it is funded
The site is free and carries display advertising served by Google AdSense. Advertisers have no influence over which stations are listed or how they are described; every listing comes from the DOE record. If you would like to reach natural gas fleet operators and drivers directly, see the advertise page.
Data, corrections and contact
The methodology page explains which records we count, which we leave out, and how the corridor mileages are calculated. If a listing is wrong, the fastest fix is to report it to AFDC, since our next weekly pull will pick up the correction; you are also welcome to tell us and we will check it against the source.
Station data is used under the AFDC's data terms and cited on every page. CNG Finder is not affiliated with or endorsed by the U.S. Department of Energy or the National Laboratory that operates the AFDC.
